innovateAFITC We will kick off the festivities for our annual innovateAFITC Cyber Challenge and Hackathon on Friday, Aug 26th for high school and college students, airmen and IT professionals. This event will feature an esports, design and pitch competition amongst collaborative teams over the weekend culminating with a pitch finale on Sunday evening, August 28th at 5PM at the Lab on Dexter, the area’s newest, innovation and collaboration facility.

AFCEA High School Education Day Education is the focus for Wednesday, August 31st as high school and college students invade the conference to learn about all the possibilities and careers in STEM and IT with High School Education Day hosted by the local AFCEA Chapter.

EdFarm Learning Labs High school students will also have the ability to participate in learning labs hosted by EdFarm at the Lab on Dexter. These labs will enhance digital literacy skills for community youth with engagement activities with the latest technology from Apple.

HBCU ROTC Mentoring Session. HBCU ROTC Mentoring Session. Our tech accelerator, Montgomery TechLab will host an HBCU ROTC Mentoring Session for AFROTC and AFJROTC units across the state at 235 Lee St. This session will feature a panel discussion and breakout sessions with current and retired, minority active duty HBCU and ROTC alumni to provide valuable insight and lessons learned for future officers.

Blacks in Tech & Innovation Roundtable On Thursday, September 1st The Alabama Collective will host the first fall event in it’s Community Conversation Series, a roundtable on blacks in tech and innovation. These widely attended conversations led by Mayors Steven Reed of Montgomery and Randall Woodfin of Birmingham have brought a lot of attention to the southeast and how we continue to elevate minority tech talent and entrepreneurs. This roundtable will hit all the latest topics; DEI, artificial intelligence, digital literacy and more.
